Theme Installation

Extract the zip file downloaded from ThemeForest to your desktop, in the folder with extracted content you will find adama.zip file which is installable WordPress theme.
Please note that you should not upload the whole item you have downloaded from Themeforest as you will get an error about broken stylesheet file. You need to use adama.zip from downloaded zip file.

There are two methods of installing a WordPress theme:

  1. WordPress Admin Panel (recommended method)

In the admin panel’s sidebar navigate to Appearance > Themes page, then click on "Add New" to access theme uploader screen and upload adama.zip file.

  2. Upload via FTP

Extract adama.zip file to your desktop, then use your FTP client to upload extracted "adama" folder to the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server. If you do not have any FTP software installed, we recommend you use free FTP client FileZilla.

After uploading the theme, you have to activate it. Navigate to Appearance > Themes page to activate the theme. After the theme is activated, you will be prompted to install required and recommended plugins.

Adama plugins Notice

Click on "Begin installing plugins" link to proceed to the theme plugins screen.

Demo Content

For a quick and easy setup, if you haven't done so already, please install and activate our Galactica Demo Importer plugin from Adama > Theme Plugins section.

Our one click demo importer will provide you with pages, blog posts, sample sliders, widgets, and theme options. Your current content, if any, will not be replaced, only new content will be added and menus will point to new pages. We recommend running import on a clean WordPress installation because of speed and to avoid any unexpected issues.

To import demo content go to Adama > Import Demo and follow next steps:

Step 1 - Install plugins used in the demo
Plugins that are used in the demo but not activated in your WordPress installation will be listed under "Plugins used in this demo but not active on your website". Our demo content uses several plugins (like WooCommerce for shop), all of them are optional if you don't need specific part for which they are used.
Step 2 - Run import
Click on "Import demo content" button and wait until import is done. It can take a few minutes to import everything. Please be patient and wait for it to complete. Once the import is done, you should see a Success message below the title.

Theme Updates

Keeping your theme up to date is very important. To setup theme updates, theme needs your Envato username and API key to be able to check for theme updates. To generate an API key, go to your ThemeForest account and select Settings from the account dropdown, then navigate to the API Keys tab. Go to theme options (Adama > Theme Update) and fill out your username and acquired API key, then click Save Changes.

Once the new update is available, you will be notified via Dashboard > Updates screen alongside other installed themes and plugins and you will be able to update Adama with just a single click.

Alternative Methods

If you do not wish to use automatic updater, you can manually download the latest package from ThemeForest and extract it (like you did during theme installation), find adama.zip file and use it with one of the alternative methods:

  • FTP upload - This method is the slowest method. Extract adama.zip file to your desktop, then use your FTP client to upload extracted "adama" folder to the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server. If you do not have any FTP software installed, we recommend you use free FTP client FileZilla.
Because theme is already installed, FTP client will warn you that files with same names already exist, you will need to select option to replace all files.
  • Re-install theme - Deactivate and delete currently installed Adama theme, then install and activate new version via WordPress.
